Tween

Pronounced: tween (like "between" without the be-)

Meaning: A kid between childhood and teenage years. Usually 8 to 12 years old. Not a little kid anymore, not a teen yet.

It comes from be-TWEEN.

Sentence:
My little sister is a tween now — she doesn't play with dolls but she's obsessed with skincare and Taylor Swift.

Other examples:
- The store has a whole section for tweens, with clothes that are too grown-up for kids but too young for teens.
- It's hard to be a tween, you're stuck in the middle.

Plural: tweens

Don't confuse with:
- Teen = 13-19
- Twin = two babies born together
